Once the hardwood flooring installation has been completed you are going to be nervous, everyone is. We are all afraid that we will do something to ruin our brand new floors and who can blame us. We paid enough to get them and they are just so perfect looking, right? Well get over it because they are gong to get stained, it is as sip-le as that. A person cannot live a life without ever dropping anything on the floor. It is just not possible. The trick is to know what to do about when you do drop or spill something.

Here are some great tips to help you keep your floors stain free:

Water stains

Believe it or not these are the most common stains found on hardwood floors. For the most part they occur only when the water has bee left standing for along time and when the finish is wearing off of the floor. These stains can be dealt with though, all you need to do is rub the area with No.2 steel wool. Once you have done that you can then rewax the area. If the water stain is a real doozey then you may need to go down a little deeper. In that case you will want to switch to the No.2 steel wool and you will have to refinish the floor as well as rewax it.

Heel marks

These are bane of anyone who just got their hardwood flooring installation done! You may want to get your family and friends to always take of their shoes, that is a good start. But still people forget and then there are the caster marks as well. Get a little bit of floor cleaner or wood oil on a soft cloth and rub the mark off. This should do the trick every time. You may need to rewax that spot after as well.

Gum

Kids are great at letting their gum fall out of their mouths and the worst part is that they often just leave it where it falls. If you have found a spot of gum on your floor after the hardwood flooring installation, don' have a heart attack, just ice it. Once the gum is frozen most of it will chip right off. What is left can be treated with a good dose of floor cleaner. Let the cleaner soak under the gum, this will help to loosen what is left.
